SERMON: Extending God’s Kingdom Through Preaching
Scripture Reading: Matt 24:14 (NLT)
“And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.”
Introduction
Beloved Cistern of Hope family, by the grace of God, we have already seen in the past weeks series of my sermons that God’s Kingdom is expanded through:
-Prayer
-Signs, wonders, and miracles
-Giving
Today, we consider another powerful way we partner with God in expanding His Kingdom, and that is:
Extending His Kingdom through preaching the Gospel.
Let us begin with a simple but important truth:
God extends His Kingdom through the faithful preaching of the Gospel by every believer.
Personal testimony
Many years ago when I got born again,I used to go and practice preaching in the bush that is near Kenya sugar board authority that is just opposite mountain view(kwa Dam)
From there ,I begun to preach in public vehicles, market centres,to individuals and that has been my life style up to date.
This means that every one of us is called to participate in the Preaching of the gospel as a kingdom extender
.
You are not just a church member, you are a kingdom extender.
Some may ask, “Where do I begin?”
Today, God will show us.
Understanding the Text (Matthew 24:14)
This verse is part of Jesus’ teaching on the Mount of Olives. He was speaking about the end times, times of trouble, uncertainty, and spiritual shaking.
Yet in the middle of all that, Jesus gives a powerful assurance:
The Gospel will continue to advance until all nations hear it.
This is not just a suggestion,it is God’s plan(To extend His KINGDOM).
However, while this verse describes what will happen, other scriptures clearly show our responsibility in it:
“Go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19–20)
“You will be my witnesses…” (Acts 1:8)
So we see both sides:
God has a plan
We are His instruments
And this work is not done by human strength alone, but by the power of the Holy Spirit.
How God Extends His Kingdom Through Preaching
- Through Divine Encounters
God often uses personal encounters to raise people who will preach His message.
Examples:
a)The Four Lepers (2 Kings 7:9–11)
They discovered good news and at first kept silent. Then they said,
“We are not doing right… this is a day of good news, and we remain silent.”
b)The Samaritan Woman (John 4:28–30, 39)
After meeting Jesus, she left her water jar and went back to her city.
No bible school training BUT only Her testimony of encounter with Jesus ,she led many to believe.
She went in the city to Extend the kingdom message.
Allow God to use you become His instrument to proclaim His Kingdom message.
c)The Delivered Man (Mark 5:19–20)
After being set free, Jesus sent him to tell others what God had done. He became a witness to what the bible calls Decapolis which means Ten cities.
Imagine one man After an encounter with Jesus went across ten cities extending God’s Kingdom.
Lesson for us, Cistern of Hope Center:
When you truly encounter Jesus, you cannot remain silent.
Your testimony becomes your message.
- Through Persecution and Challenges
God can also use difficult situations to spread His message.I am fully aware this is what many of us may NOT want to hear But that is the truth.
Examples:
The Early Church (Acts 8:4–5)
When believers were scattered because of persecution, they went everywhere preaching the Word.
The Spread to New Regions (Acts 11:19–20)
What started as persecution became expansion. The Gospel reached new people, including the Gentiles.
Get this and let it sink :
What looks like a setback can become a divine strategy.
God uses every situation to ensure that His Word reaches more people.
Conclusion
My Beloved Cistern of Hope family, God has not saved us to be silent.
He has saved us to be witnesses and carriers of His Kingdom.
Like the four lepers who said:
“We are not doing right… this is a day of good news, and we remain silent,”
I challenge us today:
-we also must refuse to keep quiet.
-Let us purpose from today to Go and proclaim this message of the kingdom to many people as we can.
-Preaching is not only for pastors—it is the responsibility of every believer.
My Final Charge as I end my sermon today;
It iss our turn.
Cistern of Hope family, I challenge you today:
Do not leave here as a listener
Leave as a witness/ a preacher / an extender of God’s Kingdom
Immediately after this service, we are going out for one-on-one evangelism.
Go and share the Good News.
-Tell someone what Jesus has done for you.
-They are waiting for us outside there, and we are here comfortably waiting for them.
-God’s Kingdom advances when His people open their mouths.
-Let us arise and extend His Kingdom together.
Shalom.
